North Carolina implemented our new Teacher Evaluation Process about five years ago, and it's been statewide for three. This year, we're adding a sixth standard which focuses on student data. Are other states taking similar steps?

In ND we do not have a statewide process. Every school and/or district does it differently. We submitted for the waiver in Sept. - but the evaluation piece is so week - schools can pretty much do what they are currently doing. Local Control!!
Diane Ravitch was on Prairie Public a couple of weeks ago. She did an excellent job talking about the issues of using standardized tests for teacher evaluation and student achievement. I did find a link to the interview at: http://www.klru.org/overheard/episode/diane-ravitch/
In one comment the interviewee states that unions are part of the problem for low achievement. She came back and said that unions are not to blame and that some of the highest achieving states are unionized states.
The Q & A clip is very interesting.
Since it is just a sit down interview - I am trying to figure out how to grab just the audio and put it on my mp3 player.
I just uploaded Hawaii's teacher eval. manual onto our group site "teacher evaluation" folder. ihope that others will upload their manuals so that we can have informed conversations about our nation's eval. systems/structures.
I want to put out a Survey to our Members on Evaluation. Does anyone have a Survey that I could look at ?
